About the Show
Adeona Productions presented Frank McGuinness’ award-winning play Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me at the Berkeley Street Theatre for a very limited 10 performance engagement from December 4 to 13, 2008. This moving, startlingly funny and fascinating story of courage and friendship starred three of Canada’s finest performers: David Ferry, Ryan Hollyman, and R.H. Thomson.
Someone Who'll Watch Over Me explores the relationship among three men trapped together as hostages in Lebanon. An American, an Irishman, and an Englishman are by turns agonized, bitter, hilarious and brave as they buck one another up, tear one another down, and try desperately to pass the time without losing hope.
The play has an enviable award pedigree including winning the New York Critics’ Circle Award for Best Foreign Play, the Writer’s Guild Award for Best Play and was nominated for Best Play at the Tony Awards in 1993. Critics called this 2008 Toronto revival "immensely powerful," "compelling," and "the best-acted play in Toronto."
